New blogs up

Possibly desert related in one sense, these blogs will be my new emphasis for the foreseeable future as I get grounded in a new blogging subject, learning the “abc’s’ so to speak.

This blog will only be used for miscellaneous writings that are not desert related. However, I have decided
on no more political posts as they are just too much of a hassle to write.

My new blogs will be located here and are investment(speculation) oriented:

Namibia Rare Earths

Heavy REE News

Both sites are related to the heavy rare earth elements spectrum- raw materials that will be absolutely necessary for the new post climate change electrical grid system, as well as for many other high technology innovations for the changing world that we live in.

I suggest that you subscribe to the email feed function here on this site for future posts that are non- desert related. I have long entertained the idea of a post emulating the style of the late Joe Bageant for example- truly a giant among writers, living or dead.

On a personal note, I have blogged for over 2 years at this very forum and it has been feast or famine.
By that, I am referring only to my ability to stay self motivated enough to write here. Let me use a mining analogy; in other words, I have run out of the lode bearing vein and it is time, finally, to search for another
good mining claim. As far as any monetary gain goes, there has been absolutely none- as mentioned before here, the ads have not generated one cent to me and any trips that I made to check on possible renewable energy sites were self funded- so I go out with my head held high, I never sold out or made a penny from this “desert activism” thing. I still feel strongly about the Mojave, that will never change, but I just can’t write anymore about it. I hope that you will understand.

I know most of my readers here are inclined toward a desert activism point of view and I suggest that you visit these sites for future desert news and information:

Coyote Crossing

Thanks to all for your loyalty visiting here from time to time. Fare thee well.

Liberal morons.

My apologies in advance to anyone who might be offended by the title of this post.

You know I have said often that my politics are liberal, so I guess that I am a
moron too. After all, I did vote for Obama in 2008. But since that time, my eyes have been opened by political sites such as the Black Agenda Report
which have long pointed out Obama for what he is, the more effective evil.
And yes, Glen Ford, Bruce Dixon and Margaret Kimberly were saying it before he even received the nomination back then. I missed that since I didn’t hear of
this prescient website until a couple of years ago or so.

No today I am up to my throat fed up, sick and tired of all the liberal whining about Obama’s latest travesty- his plan to cut social security and medicare in
his never ending quest to seek for and make the Grand Bargain with the Republicans for deficit reduction. Hey liberals wake up! He telegraphed the move before the election. He’s doing what he said that he would do. This man is a man of his word; at least when he gives it to his corporate bosses and the republicans. He will advance the corporate austerity plans with alacrity, as he is doing now. As far as his campaign pledges made to liberals, forget it. I really
can’t think of one that he has kept.

Let me give you fellow liberals the Obama response to you and me- are you ready for this? To paraphrase Rohm Emmanuel- “F-U- retards!” Obama ain’t gonna do shit for liberal causes except toss a bone here or there.

It’s not like there wasn’t another option. The democratic party could have had a
primary challenge to Obama, a tried and true way to try to prod the incumbent to move in your direction. Or liberals and progressives could have left the party in droves, flocking to fine liberal candidates running in the general election such as Rocky Anderson or Jill Stein. They didn’t do either of those things.

Instead they sat and boasted. Oh boy, now we are going to hold Obama’s feet to the fire, they swore. Hey fools, how’s the foot holding working out for ya? Sure are forcing Obama to the left, aren’t you? Not! The liberal and progressive forums are full of Obamabots wailing and gnashing their teeth now, when before the election, these same Obamabots were throwing their weight around, enforcing the party line, and making out like those of us who said vote 3rd party were heretics or worse, telling some of us to get out of the forums, traitors! I say you get what you paid for, morons! The rest of us are stuck with this turkey because you couldn’t think outside of the duopoly box and couldn’t envision a future without your blessed democratic “liberal”plantation and massa
telling you how to vote.

That’s it, I have had it with this. I will suggest an opinion article by the publisher of the Nation, John MacArthur, where he asks and I am paraphrasing
here, just what the hell are liberals for?

The answer obviously is not much, except keeping their craven man and party in power, and to hell with everyone else.

An interesting email that I received

This is an email that I got the other day from the folks at the Reckoning with Torture site. I will use screen captures to show it here.

Yes that is me, bottom row, in the middle. And 2nd from the right, directly
above this, in the Youtube row.

Of course, I wrote about this at this link. It was a day which began with hope
as I originally planned to film the reading at another desert location but my ankle quickly scratched that option, so I ended up at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve which turned out to be a better scenic backdrop for the shoot.

I had earlier made an attempt to shoot another Reckoning with Torture video
down the canyon at the old gnarly cottonwood tree but the wind noise was so
bad that I cancelled that and tried other locations as I hiked back up the hill, all to no avail.

At the risk of proving myself to be an idealist, again let me make an offer. If you
live in southern California and wish to make a reading against torture being used as a tool of policy by our government, I am available to assist in any way that I can. My days off are Tuesdays and Wednesdays and I don’t mind helping out. Regretfully, I have been unable to convince anyone else to get involved with this act of peaceful protest against our government’s policy choices, but I am not giving up hope. I have some ideas and am willing to make another video- preferably as the cameraman/ director.

I just cannot believe that none of my readers care about this issue nor will I give up on the project. By the way, did I mention that you might end up in the movie? Maybe that will get you motivated to get involved.

That’s it for today. Hope to see you again out on the backporch.

Google has reinstated the Bighorn Whisperer blog

And I would like to thank them publicly. Here is the email that I received from their team just moments ago.
ScreenHunter_04 Dec. 09 20.08

I blogged about this over at my old blog when I was a little hot under the collar. Right now, after having oral surgery today and then having my car towed after it overheated again and this time with a massive coolant leak, being forced to miss work tonight and possibly tomorrow due to the repairs needed- I am happy just to have my blog back. I like the new look and too many bad news things are going on now with me, I need to have self therapy by writing about it here.

Yes, I know this blog is about the desert, just humor me a little for a short while, until my luck changes.

I am not so sure how I feel about Adbrite- in their email response to me, they said that they didn’t take on the free blogs anymore as clients, but I really don’t remember seeing that on their website and their own software didn’t catch my application- with the end result being that the Google computer flagged me for a terms of service violation.

That’s all water under the bridge now though. I am ready to move on to the next chapter in my internet life.

Thanks to all for those who have stopped by and continue to keep dropping in for a visit!

It’s my blog and I’ll write what I want to….

At least until the Big Bad Google boots me to the street……

But first before I get into that, let me tell you the latest thing that has happened to me in the space of just a few days. You already know about my wasted trip
up to the stateline area where I was unsuccessful on visits to two future desert
solar projects as well as not being able to attend a public hearing for another, evidently because the venue or date had been changed. Then as soon as I got on the freeway, my car overheated and I made it back home, evidently with the engine none the worse for the experience, at least to this pointI don't know smile.

Beginning night before last, I started developing a toothache which by last night had morphed into a major problem. First I tried Oragel Severe Toothache
salve, which has an active ingredient of benzocaine, a topical anesthetic, which did not take all the pain away, so I searched online and heard about an ancient remedy, oil of clove, which I found at a health food store, and just tried.
It appears to work as well as the over the counter Oragel, in the fact that it made the gums and lips a little numb, and the pain has turned into a dull ache-
much more tolerable now. I hope that it lasts longer than the other. The oil I applied by putting drops on a q-tip and then painting the gum and tooth. It has a strong bitter taste and smells like strong cloves, not unpleasant actually.

Hopefully this will allow me to sleep better tonight and get through my 6 hour shift. I discovered yesterday that Aleve barely put a dint into the toothache, which sent pain radiating down into my jaw and even along the bottom row of my gums straight across the front of my mouth. At one point, my leg was even tingling, not a good sign.
(Well after 30 minutes the pain is coming back so it looks like I will have to put up with this for another day and night.)

I found a dentist office here that stays open 7 days a week from 10am to midnight, and on Sundays they take walk in patients. Tomorrow they have an oral surgeon coming in and they can extract this tooth for 150$- I am going to jump on that like a dog on a hambone, I can assure you.

I have thought more about this Google deletion of my new Bighorn Whisperer blog, which I had just started developing a writing groove, at long last. This will
be the last time that I get screwed. I did nothing wrong. Google allows other
advertising on their free blogs, and I only ventured off the Google Adsense
plantation because I got tired of not being to make their ads work on my site, and their support options or lack thereof.

You have no idea how it felt to put in the new ad code, click save, and then have instant feedback from Google that my blog had been deleted. Like their computer is judge, jury, and executioner. Now I am like a man waiting on death row, hoping to find out that a stay of execution has been called in from the governor’s office. On pins and needles until Tuesday most likely.

It ain’t gonna be fancy but I am definitely going to be throwing up my new site now. I gave Blogger one last chance and they bit me in the ass, and it won’t happen again.

Check out who visited my blog today- see previous post earlier today for the context.

This is a screen capture from my visitor logs today.
ScreenHunter_03 Dec. 07 16.52

If this cutoff on your screen on the right side, just doubleclick on this chart and a full size image will come up in your browser.

I hope this will be resolved by a human looking at my site and restoring. If so, I don’t expect the Bighorn Whisperer site to be restored until after the weekend.

My new blog has been pulled by Google- details in this post.

Just when you thought that you had heard it all, news like this pops up. Let me share all the sordid details with you- just minutes after the disaster occurred.

My new blog, the Bighorn Whisperer, was off to a good start. I like the layout of the “Simple Template” by Blogger, and the Morongobill had his writing groove back. No more writer’s block, hurray!

I had blogged about my trip up to the stateline area this past Tuesday and Wednesday, an unsuccessful trip and one where my car suffered a meltdown.
Plus I also put up a couple more good posts, or at least I thought so at the time.

One thing that the misfortunes during the trip taught me was that I needed another revenue source to help fund further trips out to future solar and wind sites in the Mojave; my job as a part time shuttle bus driver is not enough to do all the visits I would like and I need an upgrade to a truck or suv to reach the hard to get to areas as well.

So I attempted to put the Google Adsense ads back on and was not able to get them to display, so I removed them from the site. Next I researched other alternative ads and settled on Adbrite out of the bay area, and after review I made my choice, and inserted the code into my site.

Instantly my blog was deleted, just like that, for suspicious activity and possible malicious code usage. I asked a question on the blogger forum and was able to put in a request for human review and should have a decision within 2 business days.

I shall refrain expressing my feelings about this now and will leave it at this.
Hopefully the new blog will be back up soon and I can continue the blog journey there.

Bottom line is this. I need my own site asap where no one can cut me loose.

Late addition, I just heard from Adbrite. Read this and come to your own conclusion. Note that nowhere in their website at least during the signup page where I gave up all my personal info did it mention that Blogger accounts were not welcome.
ScreenHunter_02 Dec. 07 12.37

So they have cut me loose as well.
